This session introduces participants to best practices for implementing multicultural literature into curriculums. The goal of the session is to engage participants in a meaningful, reflective discussion about the importance of diversity and inclusion as a strategic imperative for creating a sense of equality for all students. 

Learning Objectives:
  • Participants will develop a deeper understanding about the meaning of diversity in children’s books.
  • Participants will learn useful strategies for incorporating diversity into library programs on a consistent basis.
  • Participants will understand the role of librarians in selecting authentic, multicultural books that reflect a myriad of cultures and experiences.
