School librarians house active information centers designed to meet the needs of diverse learners and faculty through both physical and intellectual access. The school library is the access point for all users to seek information in various formats that encompass users from all demographics. Our role is to provide access to the widest diversity of resources that encourage students to think critically and become effective and ethical users of information. This article outlines the founding at the heart of the school librarian’s responsibilities regarding intellectual freedom and equitable access.
