Description
Empathy is a core competency in the socio-emotional content of public and independent schools’ curricula. Empathy stems from the enduring understanding that each student is an individual with unique attributes and perspectives, some of which are visible and others are invisible. Books are portals--mirrors, windows, or doors--that provide the opportunity to transport children to special places both internally and externally and build empathy. This session explores the intersection of empathy and diverse literature.
