School Librarian, Crittenden Middle School
Sabrina Carnesi is a National Board Certified Solo-Teacher Librarian at Crittenden Middle School in Newport News, Virginia. She is in continuous pursuit of branding her school library as one reflective of the emerging technological trends and advancements used by today’s net savvy student, resulting in the sustaining of an online presence with her library’s website,which includes LiveBinder sites for 'all things books' and middle school research, a library resource guide for students, as well as a student administered geek blog. Her book reviews and articles are frequently published in professional literature for educators and school librarians. She is currently an active member of the Virginia Association for School Librarians and the association's state committee chair for Intellectual Freedom, an active member of Library Services for Youth in Custody's In the Margins Book Committee, and the AASL Representative for the Freedom to Read Foundation and the planning board for School Library Media. This is her second year as a NxtWave doctoral student at Old Dominion University, where she is cultivating her research in YA Urban Street Lit.
