Carolyn H. Kirio

School Librarian, Kapolei Middle School

Carolyn H. Kirio is a Cybrarian at Kapolei Middle School where she trains, collaborates, and instructs with teacher teams in project-based learning work. She has presented at state and national conferences and has coauthored Collaborating for Project-based Learning in Grades 9-12 (Linworth Publishing, 2008). In 2006 the American Association of School Librarians selected Kapolei's library as one of the National School Library Media Programs of the Year (SLMPY) and in 2015 awarded Kirio with the Information Technology Pathfinder Award. Kirio earned her National Board Certification in 2002 and 2011. She was selected as one of School Library Journal's "Top Ten Librarians To Watch" in 2003 and the Hawaii Association of School Librarians also honored Kirio with the Golden Key Award in 1999 for her exemplary leadership in the school library profession. Kirio is currently a PhD student in the University of Hawaii College of Education Technology Program.
