Jane Lofton

School Librarian, Retired, Mira Costa High School

Jane Lofton retired in 2016 as the teacher librarian at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, and was selected a 2016 Sandacre Teacher of the Year by the Mira Costa Senior Class. She is currently a part-time instructor for the Rutgers University SC&I pre-service librarian program. She is an active AASL member, serving on the AASL 2017 and 2019 Conference Committees as Social Media Chair, as 2017-18 Best Websites Committee Chair, and teaching several classes and presenting webinars for members on using Twitter. She is a Past President of California School Library Association (CSLA), Honorary Member, and co-webmaster. She is a Google Certified Innovator and Trainer, and a frequent presenter at library and tech conferences. She is a passionate lifelong learner, ed tech Geek, and loves sharing inspiration with students, other librarians, and teachers. Jane is also an enthusiastic blogger (Jane Lofton’s Adventures in School Libraryland (janelofton.com), tweeter (@jane_librarian), traveler, and swimmer. Her latest accomplishment in August 2018 was being an incredibly proud mother of the bride.
