Kathy Lester

Advocacy Chair, School Librarian, Michigan Association for Media in Education

Kathy Lester, MA, MLIS, is a school librarian at East Middle School in Plymouth, Michigan and has been teaching and supporting reading, digital citizenship, technology integration, & information literacy for 18 years.  She is American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Region 3 Director, a past-president and current advocacy chairperson for the Michigan Association for Media in Education (MAME), and the Communications Director for the Michigan Association for Computers Users in Learning (MACUL) SIGLIB.  She is a Certified Educator for Google for Education, BrainPOP, and Ozobot. Her library was the Michigan SL21 Model Library and the MAME School Library Program of the Year for 2017-2018. Kathy frequently presents at state and local conferences on effective school libraries, collaboration, advocacy, digital citizenship, information literacy, digital reading, and making/makerspaces.
