Phyllis R. Snipes is a professor of media/school library media in the College of Education at the University of West Georgia (UWG) in Carrollton. She serves on the Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) Executive Board as GLMA’s liaison with the Georgia Department of Education. Phyllis serves the Georgia Association for Instructional Technology as Higher Education Representative and was one of the organizers of the Georgia School Library Media Specialist Consortium. In 2018 she was the UWG nominee for the University System of Georgia Regents’ Online Teaching Excellence Award. In 2017 she received a UWG College of Education teaching award for work with graduate students, and GLMA recognized her work on the development of the state’s School Library Evaluation Instrument by giving her the William E. Patterson Award. Among her recent publications are a February 2018 posting “School Librarian Evaluation Instrument: An Option Now in Action” on the GaDOE Library Media Update webpage and a 2017 article “Developing Meaningful Self-Assessment/Evaluation Instrument in Georgia” published by School Library Connection. She is a member of AASL.
