Heather Baucum

School Librarian, Crossfield Elementary/Fairfax County Public Schools

Heather Baucum is the School Librarian at Crossfield Elementary in Herndon, Virginia. She has a passion for all things autism and neurodiversity. As a mom to two children with autism, it's a joy to bring adapted techniques and neurodiverse titles to all. She is an avid coder and enjoys a great breakout or puzzle. She loves to connect games and coding to teacher's curriculum. She has published with School Library Connection in 2018 on Adapted Library Techniques. She has been fortunate enough to present at the 2017 and 2019 AASL conferences on ways to support learners with autism and non-categorical disabilities. She is a graduate of the ODU Librarianship program and the 2020 Potomac Region VAASL School Librarian of the Year. She can be found on Twitter at @BookyBaucum or contacted at htbaucum@fcps.edu.
