LaDawna started her library career at Ohio University and Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. She has worked as the corporate librarian for a biopharmaceutical company, taught at Avenel Middle School where she was featured on the NJ Class Room Close-up TV show, and is now teaching at Millburn High School.
LaDawna was the first receipient of the Villy Gandhi Leadership Training Scholarship, followed with the 2004 NJ Outstanding Media Specialist Award. She has served as President for LibraryLinkNJ, on the Advisory Board for CISSL, on the DOE Technology Strategic Planning Committee and the NJ Information Technology Infrastructure School Advisory Group. She is a part-time lecturer for Rutgers University (the State University of New Jersey). For NJASL she is a past president, and currently the NJ delegate to the AASL Affiliate Assembly. She has served on a number of committees for AASL including chairing the Parent Outreach Committee that created the Parent Outreach Toolkit.
LaDawna is the author of the book Guided Research and several articles for a variety of journals. Her new book, Guided Inquiry in Action: Middle School, co-authored with Dr. Leslie Maniotes and Patricia Lambusta, arrives December 2015.
